Innovation doesn’t happen by playing it safe—and it doesn’t happen just once.

Now in its second year, Rebels and Innovators returns as a growing tradition at Boulder Ballet—an annual platform dedicated to bold voices, risk-taking, and the artists shaping what comes next. What began as an exploration of creative rebellion is quickly becoming a defining space for choreographic invention and artistic evolution.

Rooted in themes of emotional wellness and the complexity of being human, this program invites audiences into a space where vulnerability, imagination, and physicality intersect.

FEATURED WORKS

Silent Conversations
Choreography by Brandon Ragland
A powerful exploration of the unspoken tensions within relationships. Through intricate partnering and raw physical language, Silent Conversations reveals the weight of what is left unsaid - where connection, fracture, and vulnerability live just beneath the surface.

World Premiere
Choreography by Ching Ching Wong
Boulder Ballet’s first-ever Resident Choreographer

A new work developed in close collaboration with Boulder Ballet’s artists. Wong’s process draws deeply from the individuality of each dancer, resulting in choreography that is immediate, nuanced, and distinctly alive. This premiere reflects both her singular voice and Boulder Ballet’s commitment to cultivating innovation from within.

How to Build a Dream Apparatus (Expanded Version)
Choreography by Natasha Adorlee

Returning from the fall season, this evolving work reappears in an expanded iteration. Developed across the year, How to Build a Dream Apparatus invites audiences to witness choreography as a living process - shifting, deepening, and transforming over time. Blending theatricality with introspection, the work explores how we construct meaning, memory, and identity through both imagination and lived experience.

Together, these works reflect the evolving spirit of Rebels and Innovators: a space where ideas are tested, voices are amplified, and the future of dance takes shape in real time.

Come back each year. Expect the unexpected. Witness what’s next.
