Dancer Wellness at Boulder Ballet SChool

Here at Boulder Ballet, we believe dance is transformative! Through personal expression and physical movement, dance supports individual health and well-being. It is a profound vehicle for creative self-expression and joy and can provide a life-altering impact to those who experience and engage with its power.

We are pleased to offer some free wellness-centered tools, classes, and workshops to our community, aimed to support your mind, body, and soul.

Five Point Dancer Method

This method was established to help guide dancers in creating their own dance experience using positive self-assessment tools, the knowledge of trusted professional resources, and a curriculum structured in supporting all five points of the program. Through Mindset, Work Ethic, Nutrition, Injury Prevention, and Cross Training, each dancer will begin to understand how they can achieve their goals.

These additional classes will be added to the BBS schedule and curriculum over time. Each year the School Director will see where the dancers are at in these areas of wellness and will integrate what they need most at that time. The School Director teaches from the FPDM throughout the year as she is able and also teaches this program during summer intensives in numerous ballet schools across the country.

Point Safe Program

Risk Reduction is key when a dancer is deciding to prepare for getting their first pair of pointe shoes. The Five Point Dancer Method at Boulder Ballet has adopted the Pointe Safe Program to help guide dancers through this special moment in their dance journey.

Mentorship Program

The School Ambassador component within the BBS’ Mentorship Program is intended to help students become strong role models, foster a positive learning environment, and help develop your leadership skills as community ambassadors for Boulder Ballet School - both in and out of the studio!

National Honor Society for Dance Arts

The NHSDA is a national program that honors students who excel not only in dance, but also in academics and community service.

This recognition is something our dancers can carry with them as they move forward—whether it’s applying to colleges, auditioning for companies, or applying for jobs. It’s a meaningful way to acknowledge the effort, time, and heart they put into their training.
