Kayla DeGaray
Kayla DeGaray grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and began her dance training at age 11. After graduating from high school, she chose to continue her dance education at Butler University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Pedagogy along with a minor in Business Administration. During her time at Butler, Kayla was an active member of Butler's Movement Exchange chapter, which focused on bringing dance, specifically high-energy movement classes, to children in underserved communities throughout Indianapolis.
Following graduation, Kayla joined Kansas City Ballet II, where she performed in productions such as Devon Carney's The Nutcracker, Michael Pink's Dracula, and Septime Webre's The Wizard of Oz. In 2022, Kayla joined Ballet Tucson under the direction of Margaret Mullin, where she spent four seasons performing roles in ballets choreographed by Chieko Imada, Margaret Mullin, Kiyon Ross, and George Balanchine. Some of her favorite performance experiences include George Balanchine's Allegro Brillante and Serenade, Kiyon Ross's ə{Schwa}, and Chocolate Principal in The Nutcracker.
Throughout her professional career, Kayla has shared her love and passion for ballet through teaching. She has taught ballet, pointe, choreography, and variations and enjoys helping dancers build strong technical foundations while fostering artistry, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for dance. Drawing from her background in dance pedagogy, Kayla strives to create a positive and encouraging classroom environment where students feel challenged, supported, and empowered to grow both as dancers and as individuals.
Kayla is thrilled to be returning to Colorado and joining the faculty at Boulder Ballet School. She looks forward to sharing her passion for ballet and inspiring the next generation of dancers.
