Benjamin Rabe

A native of Pittsburgh, Benjamin Rabe received his core training at The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School. Benjamin joined Rochester City Ballet where he danced many principal roles and then joined BalletMet Columbus under the direction of James Kudelka followed by Edwaard Liang. While dancing with BalletMet, Benjamin was able to work with many world renown choreographers including James Kudelka, Christopher Wheeldon, Edwaard Liang, David Nixon, Lynne Taylor-Corbett, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, Devon Carney, and Victoria Morgan, and performed works by George Balanchine. Benjamin rejoined Rochester City Ballet and has performed the Cavalier in The Nutcracker, the Prince in Cinderella, Raymonda, and Sleeping Beauty, and lead roles in works by Danny Rosseel, Nikolai Kabaniev, Jimmy Orrante, Mark Diamond, Jamey Leverett, and David Palmer. During the pandemic, Ben and his wife, Kelly, became faculty of Foothills Dance Conservatory as well as Artist in Residence and Choreographer for Foothills Conservatory of the Performing Arts in Seneca, SC. Ben then danced for Newport Contemporary Ballet under the direction of Miki Ohlsen and Danielle Genest, and danced works choreographed by Nicolo Fonte, Amy Hall Garner, Takehiro Ueyama, Yoshito Sakuraba, Joshua Peugh, and Kristopher Estes-Brown. Ben is currently a dancer with Boulder Ballet where he has had the opportunity to perform works by Jorma Elo, Amy Seiwert, Stephanie Martinez, Nicolo Fonte, Ben Needham-Wood, Claudia Anata Hubiak, and Kevin Gaël Thomas. In addition to dancing, Ben has taught for many schools and companies along his 18+ years of his professional dance career. He has taught ballet from the beginning levels of dance all the way to professionals and adults. Ben has also choreographed works for Rochester City Ballet, Central Illinois Ballet, Mid-Columbia Ballet, Foothills Dance Conservatory, The Academy at Newport Contemporary Ballet, and Newport Contemporary Ballet. Recently, Ben and co-choreographer Deanna Gerde’s work, Less Mind, was invited to compete in the Cre8Dance choreographic competition in Pittsburgh. Ben also enjoys coaching dancers, teaching partnering classes, and staging classical and contemporary repertoire.
