Michael Mengden

Michael Mengden is from Houston, began his training at Allegro West Academy of Dance, followed by training at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow under Ilya Kuznestov. He further refined his skills through a pre-professional program at the Sarasota Cuban Ballet School, where he had the unique opportunity to train and travel with Dr. Ramona de Saa, Director of the Cuban National Ballet School. Michael also holds distinctions with the Royal Academy of Dance.

In 2016, Mengden joined the Cincinnati Ballet's Second Company and quickly advanced to the main company, being promoted to corps de ballet in 2017. He has showcased his versatility in numerous classical and contemporary works, performing leading roles such as Lancelot in Victoria Morgan’s Camelot, the Cowardly Lion in Septime Webre’s Wizard of Oz, Hilarion in Devon Carney’s Giselle and also appearing in George Balanchine's Emeralds. Michael has also performed in works by Alexander Ekman, Jiri Kylian, William Forsythe, Jennifer Archibald, Jodi Gates, David Morse, and Annabelle Lopez Ochoa among many others. He earned multiple gold medals at Youth America Grand Prix and was a finalist at the Havana International Ballet Competition.
