BBS Students Winning Awards!
At the recent Denver Ballet Guild's Scholarship Competition, Annette Buvoli won 1st place and Claire Davison won 3rd place in the 14 - 15 yr. category. Kate Adams won 2nd place in the 12 - 13 yr. category. Additionally, Annette won the Florence Ruston Award for Overall Excellence, making her the third BBS student to receive this honor which is bestowed to only one of the approximately 250 participants from ballet schools throughout the state each year. Congratulations!
Annette and Claire also competed in the Youth America Grand Prix regional ballet competitions (Annette in Denver and Claire in San Diego) and both were invited to perform classical and contemporary variations in New York City at the YAGP finals in late March. At this event Annette was awarded a scholarship to Houston Ballet School in Texas, and Claire a scholarship to the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School of American Ballet Theater in New York. YAGP is the world's largest youth ballet competition, in which dancers earn scholarships and apprenticeships with leading ballet schools and companies internationally. The NYC finals will showcase 300 young dancers from the finest ballet schools around the world.
